The Fifth SAARC Home Ministerial meeting today concluded in the Maldivian capital Male by emphasising on the need for better cooperation on issues related to terrorism, border security and management and combating against human and drugs trafficking.
The home ministers of the regional bloc also stressed to enhance cooperation in the areas of mutual assistance in criminal matters, cyber crimes and trafficking in women and children in South Asia, according to a statement.
Home Ministers of all eight South Asian countries except Nepal and Pakistan were present during the meet.
Home Secretary Nabin Ghimire led the Nepali delegation that included Joint Secretary at the Home Ministry Shankar Koirala, Director General of the Department of the Immigration Suresh Adhikari and Joint Secretary of the Foreign Ministry, Arjun Bahadur Thapa.
The ministers reviewed earlier commitments made during the fourth meeting held in Thimphu, Bhutan.
