A pre-dawn  suicide terror attack (fidayeen)  on an army camp in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday (April 27)   resulted in the death of three army personnel including an officer,  while two terrorists were neutralized. Combing operations are in progress to ascertain if any of the attackers have sneaked into the army camp.

While the South Asian region has its fair share of reasons to be quarrel over, if there is one thing that has managed to transcend boundaries, it has been the soft power of India. As a melting pot of diversity in itself, its cultures, languages, ethnicities and the like are in a symbiotic relation with those across the border. As a result, there is no country in South Asia which has not been touched by something Indian – particularly television and film industry, and cricket. Such is the expanse and the impact of the Indian soft power. It has managed to bridge a rather unbridgeable lot.

The  sentencing to death of an Indian citizen on charges of spying by a Pakistani military court on April 10  reeks of a hasty, imprudent decision by Rawalpindi, the GHQ of the  Pak military, and is likely to further strain an already adversarial  bilateral relationship.
