Over 14 vehicles full of Afghan dried fruit arrives in India

Over 14 vehicles laden with dry fruits and assorted goods from Afghanistan have crossed over to India through the Attari-Wagah border in Punjab’s Amritsar since Pakistan allowed Afghanistan to send goods to India, a trade body said on Wednesday, according to The Hindustan Times report

Over 14 vehicles laden with dry fruits and assorted goods from Afghanistan have crossed over to India through the Attari-Wagah border in Punjab’s Amritsar since Pakistan allowed Afghanistan to send goods to India, a trade body said on Wednesday, according to The Hindustan Times report.

Pakistan and India had suspended trade across the border in March to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pakistan allowed Afghanistan to send goods to India using on July 15, citing the Pakistan-Afghanistan Transit Trade Agreement.

“14 trucks laden with dry fruits, mulathhi [liquorice] and other assorted goods (arrived) in the last four days,” said Ashok Sethi, Director of the Confederation of International Chambers of Commerce and Industry, as quoted by the Hindustan Times.

Traders from India usually import dry fruits and herbs from Afghanistan.

The first shipment of Afghan goods crossed over to India in two trucks on Saturday.
