South Korea's political trial

Park Geun-hye’s impeachment Friday formalizes Seoul’s state of political disarray. Next comes the President’s trial before the Constitutional Court on corruption charges, which could take six months. She offered to resign in April to avoid impeachment but now seems determined to fight on for the 14 months left in her term, so this U.S. ally in a dangerous corner of the world faces an extended challenge to its democratic institutions.
