SAMDEN is collaborating with Himal Southasian Magazine on an ongoing research project to document legal attacks against journalists in five countries -- India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal. This project, #JournalistsOnTrial is intended to be a starting point for broader discussions around the nature of intimidation and pressures that media workers in the region face.

You can find a detailed note on this here: (https://himalmag.com/journalistsontrial-samden-himal-initiative-southasian-journalist-legal-attack-2019/). We plan to release our initial findings in the form of a report this on the upcoming World Press Freedom Day on May 3.

We request you to share this note with your networks, and if you or your contacts know of cases of journalists/media groups who have facing threats or prosecution for their work, please do send us details by emailing contact@samden.org or editorial@himalmag.com or filling out this form. And do, of course, let us know your thoughts and any inputs/comments you may have.
