Dhaka: The number of Bangladeshi police personnel who recovered after testing COVID-19 positive crossed 1,100 today.

Many of the 1,119 recovered police personnel have rejoined their offices, says a Police Headquarters press release.

The recovery rate among police is increasing rapidly due to "improved standard treatment facility", it added.

Meanwhile, 152 more police personnel were infected in 24 hours till this noon, bringing the total number of infected cops to 4,053.

Fourteen infected police personnel have far died so far.

Authorities recently booked a private hospital to treat police as the Central Police Hospital was struggling to deal with the huge number of patients.

Police officials said the infection among police is on the rise as it is quite difficult to carry out police work without coming into contact with people.
