Dhaka: Nineteen people -- the highest number in 24 hours so far -- have died with coronavirus infections since yesterday, Bangladesh's Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said today.
The death toll now stands at 269, said Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of DGHS, during a briefing.
One thousand one hundred and sixty-two people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. This is also the highest in the span of 24 hours so far.
With this, the total number of infected has reached 17822.
A total of 7,900 samples were tested in 41 labs across the country since yesterday, Dr Nasima added.
Meanwhile, 214 COVID-19 patients have recovered around the country in the last 24 hours. The total recovery number stands at 3,361, the DGHS official said.
Among the deceased, seven were female, Dr Nasima said adding that one of them was a child, aged under 10. Of the others, one was 31-40 years old, seven between 51 and 60, five between 61 and 70, and the rest within 71-80 years old.
Twelve of the deceased were from Dhaka city, one from Narayanganj, one from Munshiganj, one from Pabna, one from Narail, two from Chattogram and one from Cumilla, the official revealed.
A total of 150 people were put under isolation in the last 24 hours, she added.
