Dhaka: A 100-year-old woman in Bangladesh has survived COVID-19 infection despite being a heart disease patient and suffering from old-age complications, family members told Turkey-based Anadolu Agency. Khobirunnesa, hailing from Gopalganj, was diagnosed with COVID-19 in early May when she was admitted to a hospital in Dhaka with cardiac complications.

"It is a miracle. My grandmother has been suffering from heart disease and minor skin cancer for a long time. There were rings in her heart and she was bed-ridden for around one year," Mohammad Nasim Bhuiyan, grandson of the centenarian, told Anadolu Agency yesterday.

After testing positive for COVID-19, she remained quarantined at her daughter's house in Dhaka's Uttara while family members attended to her.

"We took care of her as per the advice of doctors. Now my grandmother is free of coronavirus. She has tested negative twice. We took her back to our rural home two days ago," Bhuiyan added.
