Dhaka: The Bangladesh government has given permission to two more foreign air operators -- Turkish Airlines and Air Arabia -- to operate regular flights to and from Dhaka from July 1.

Besides, two more foreign airlines are waiting to get the government's nod.

"We have permitted Turkish Airlines and Air Arabia to transport passengers but Turkish Airlines will start flights from July 2 or 3 and Air Arabia from July 1," said Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh Chairman Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman.

He also said Malaysian Airlines and Malindo Air, a Malaysia based airlines, have also applied to operate direct flights to and from Bangladesh.

The CAAB chairman said the government may primarily give them permission to operate transit flights.

Earlier on June 21, Emirates Airlines was allowed to fly three weekly transit flights on the Dhaka-Dubai route and Qatar Airways got the approval from June 16 to operate three weekly transit flights on the Dhaka-Doha route.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines is operating one weekly flight on the Dhaka-London route since the government resumed flight operations on a limited scale since July 16.

Earlier on June 1, CAAB resumed flight operations with all domestic flights maintaining social distancing and following health guidelines.
