The US administration newly banned 24 Chinese companies from buying American products with an accusation of them constructing on Chinese islands and helping “militarizing” the South China Sea.

The Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka said the sanctions imposed by the US on 24 companies have no international legal effect and is a violation of international law and norms.

The US had recently imposed sanctions of 24 Chinese companies that included the China Communications Construction Company that is involved in the construction of the Colombo Port City and its subsidiary companies.

The sanctions had been imposed by citing the construction of artificial islands in the South China sea.
