Mahibadhoo MP Ahmed Thariq has criticized the Speaker for “playing” a drama inside the parliament. MP Thariq was speaking in today’s parliamentary session where the whole house was debating on the debt of the state.

Former Ministers and current Finance Minister was summoned to the parliament today to be questioned regarding the finances of the state starting from the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen. MP Thariq alleged that President Solih had come to power with the help of India and the issue now was over the uncertainty of support by India regarding candidates in the next election.

“What is happening here is a drama over a race to see whether President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih or President Nasheed gains the support of India in the 2023 elections. The punishment of this drama or this rhetoric is the destruction of the relationship between the Maldives and China.” Said MP Thariq who is a member of the opposition PPM.

Nasheed cut off the MP from this point and requested the MP to continue with the questions.
