The government has appointed a new Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Relations, as well as several other ministries the government announced.

The announcement said that the current Advisor on External Affairs to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa Admiral (Rtd) Jayanath Colambage has been appointed as the new Secretary.
 
Before the elections, there were rumours in the Foreign Office that Colambage would be appointed to the role.
