Sri Lanka's Ministry of Education has decided to reopen government schools and government approved private schools which were given leave due to the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic.

The Ministry of Education said instructions have been given to reopen all grades of the schools with more than 200 students based on the health guidelines given by the Health Ministry.

Additional Secretary on School Affairs of the Ministry L.M.B Danasena said that instructions have been given to the relevant officials to reopen public and government approved private schools it they can maintain students distance and sufficient class room facilities.
