Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa states that the government will take up the challenge of creating a strong country with a conducive environment for the comprehensive development of the business sector.
Meeting with the Colombo business community at a discussion, the Prime Minister focused on measures to be taken to rebuild businesses that collapsed after the Corona disaster.
Prime Minister Rajapaksa also participated in a public meeting held in Kantale to confirm the victory of the candidates of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) in the general election. Seruwila organizer Kapila Nuwan Athukorala had organized this meeting.
Speaking at the event, the Prime Minister said the program to provide 100,000 jobs will be implemented as soon as the general election is over. He said the program was temporary suspended according to the instructions of the Elections Commission.
The Premier said the country is in need of a group of people who would be committed to build the country according to the President’s program.
A Podujana Peramuna Government which will be formed in future would pay more attention on the agriculture. The Prime Minister said that special programs will be implemented by introducing modern technological methods. The farmers’ pension and insurance will be further enhanced.
The Prime Minister said he believes the Trincomalee district can supply about 80 percent of local liquid milk requirement and steps will be taken to improve the dairy industry.
New investments will be introduced for the Kantale Sugar Factory and all necessary steps have been taken to resume production at the Sugar Factory, he said.
Another public meeting was held at the Trincomalee Hindu Cultural Center to confirm the victory of the Trincomalee District SLPP candidates. Former Member of Parliament Susantha Punchinilame organized this public meeting. Sarath Manamendra, Mrs. Ariyawathie Galappaththi and others were present at this public meeting.
