Sri Lanka President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa says that steps will be taken to administer the pre-school system under a ministry to resolve the issues in the system.

The President noted that in every district he visited during the past few days, his attention was drawn to the problems faced by pre-school teachers, Focusing attention on the problem, the President has made arrangements to provide a monthly allowance to pre-school teachers.

President Rajapaksa emphasized the importance of planning early childhood development, which is a crucial stage in the lives of children, with a standard and quality. He said that the pre-school system will be placed under a ministry as a priority after the formation of the new government.

President Rajapaksa, who is on a visit to the Matara District today (25) to confirm the victory of the candidates contesting the general election from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), expressed these views at a rally organized by the SLPP candidate Nipuna Ranawaka at the Matara Beach Park.

The President's visit to the Matara District commenced at the Ruhuna University Stadium. President Rajapaksa had a cordial discussion with the Vice Chancellor, Senior Professor Sujeewa Amarasena and inquired about education. The Vice Chancellor informed that the online teaching method is being implemented successfully.

At a public rally organized by the Former Minister of State Kanchana Wijesekara in front of the Devinuwara Devalaya, several issues of the people of the area including the issue of drinking water were referred to the President.

He also instructed the relevant officials to expedite the request to complete the renovation work of the sacred area of the Devinuwara Devalaya which has been suspended. Minister Dullas Alahapperuma was also present at the occasion.
