The former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and eight others including two party leaders and five former ministers have been issued summons to appear before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) investigating the incident of political victimization on the 21st of this month.

Chairman of the Commission, Retired Supreme Court Judge Upali Abeyratne issued the summons today (12) to Wickremesinghe, TNA leader R. Sampanthan, TNA MP MA Sumanthiran, JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake and former ministers Mangala Samaraweera, Patali Champika Ranawaka, Rauf Hakeem, Sarath Fonseka and Malik Samarawickrema.

Former MPs, President's Counsels Jayampathy Wickramaratne and JC Weliamuna were also issued summons.

The summons was issued following a complaint lodged with the Presidential Commission by former Secretary to the Ministry of Economic Affairs Nihal Jayatilleka.
