Madhu and Mannar Police have arrested six persons who had assisted a father and a daughter arrived in Mannar from a refugee camp in India by sea due to the prevailing coronavirus threat in India
Colombo: Madhu and Mannar Police have arrested six persons who had assisted a father and a daughter arrived in Mannar from a refugee camp in India by sea due to the prevailing coronavirus threat in India.
The Madhu Police officers had taken the father and daughter into custody when they arrived in the Talaimannar coast in Pandivirichchan area in Mannar on June 02 from a refugee camp in Tamil Nadu by boat and directed them to the Poonani Quarantine Center.
The Madhu Police said six persons from Talaimannar were arrested by the police with the assistance of Mannar Police intelligence officers for assisting the duo to arrive in Sri Lanka illegally. Measures have been taken to produce the suspects before Mannar Court.
The Madhu Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
