Sri Lanka Army is developing a 2020–2025 Way Forward Strategy, said Army Commander Lt. General Shavendra Silva on Monday (07th September) adding it would be expanded to 2030 as well.

Sri Lanka Army is the largest disciplined human resource in the country, said the Army Commander adding he does not wish the Sri Lanka Army to be a burden to the country.

“Today the Sri Lanka Army is engaged in all types of secondary tasks than what we are supposed to do in our primary role,” said the Army Commander stressing, “We never say no. We don’t have those negative words with us.”  

The Army Commander said the organization had not suspended any of its tasks, even in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, adding such standards must be maintained in the country.
