Colombo: Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 cases tally increased to 1,683 Tuesday with 40 more persons testing positive for the coronavirus, the Health Ministry reported.

According to the Epidemiology Unit report updated at 11:50 pm Tuesday, 849 confirmed patients are receiving treatment at hospitals while 83 individuals are currently under investigations in hospitals.

Eleven patients have died while 823 patients including the Chinese tourist, who was the first COVID-19 case detected in the country in January, have fully recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

A total of 68,204 PCR tests have been conducted to detect Covid-19 infected persons from February 18 to June 02, according to the Health Promotion Bureau report.
