Butwal: Around 200 young people gathered at Pushpalal Park in Butwal on Friday as Nepal’s youth-led anti-government protests spread to cities outside the capital.
The peaceful physically distanced protest was against what demonstrators called the government’s “incompetence” in dealing with the coronavirus and lockdown.
The police were fully geared up and were dispersed into different areas to handle the crowd but the youths maintained the peace and physical distance during the protest.
A group of youth also gave out water to participants and collected the empty bottles making sure that they left the protest area clean.
Like in Kathmandu the demonstrators chanted slogans against corruption in medical procurement to combat the pandemic.
Police did not have to resort to tear gas or baton charge and the protest ended peacfully.
