Nepal reported seven more COVID-19-related deaths on Monday, taking the toll to 164. Meanwhile, 855 new cases, of them 199 in Kathmandu district alone, were reported in the past 24 hours, taking the national tally to 33,533.

The health ministry said that a woman and two men from Kathmandu, a 22-year-old man from Siraha, a 68-year-old man from Parsa, a 76-year-old man from Dhanusa and a 53-year-old man from Rupandehi succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours.

According to the ministry, 68 individuals from Province 2, 35 from Bagmati Province, 22 from Province 5, 18 from Province 1, eight each from Sudurpaschim and Gandaki provinces and four from Karnali have died due to COVID-19-related conditions so far.

“A total of 11,327 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests were carried out in the past 24 hours,” said Health Ministry spokesperson Dr Jageshwar Gautam, during a regular press briefing. So far, 621, 901 PCR tests have been performed in the country.
