Arrangements have been made to open all government schools for Grade 11, 12 and 13 students from July 27, the Ministry of Education announced.

The school opening days, opening grades and examination dates have been revised in view of the new developments regarding the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Accordingly, schools for grades 11, 12 and 13 will be held from 7.30 am to 3.30 pm. Schools for the other grades will start on August 10.

It is also emphasized to all school authorities that schools should be run in accordance with the guidelines given by the health authorities and the special instructions given by the Ministry of Education in bringing students to schools.

The Ministry of Education also informs that the principals and deputy principals of all schools used for elections should remain in school on July 28, 29, 30 and 31 to prepare schools for the 2020 general election.

Principals are further advised to take steps to facilitate election activities in schools in consultation with the Assistant Commissioners so as not to interfere with the academic activities of the students during this period.
