Colombo: Sri Lanka reported 71 new cases Sunday, raising the total number of people contracted the coronavirus to 523, the Health Ministry said.

A total of 95 sailors attached to the Welisara Navy Camp tested positive for COVID-19, according to the National Operations Centre for Preventing COVID-19 Outbreak.

According to the Epidemiology Unit report released at 11.58 pm Sunday, 396 patients are receiving treatment at hospitals while 273 individuals are currently under investigations in hospitals.

Seven patients have died and 120 patients including the Chinese tourist, who was the first COVID-19 case detected in the country in January and discharged last month, have fully recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
