Colombo: The 101 Sri Lankan students who were airlifted from India by SriLankan Airlines were moved to the Punani Quarantine Facility, which is operated by the Sri Lanka Air Force.
Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva speaking at the National Operations Centre for Preventing COVID-19 said similar groups will be brought back to Sri Lanka from SAARC nations in the coming days.
16 people who completed their quarantine period at the Punani Quarantine Facility were released after they tested negative for the PCR test.
The Army Commander said 2744 people remain across 26 quarantine facilities in the country undergoing a mandatory quarantine period.
As of today, 4366 people who were quarantined at facilities operated by the armed forces have been released following completion of the quarantine period.
The Army Commander and Acting Chief of Defence Staff said, yesterday the Combat Riders of the Sri Lanka Army, tested the temperature of those engaged in providing essential services.
