The validity period of all visas issued for foreigners in Sri Lanka has been extended until May 12 owing to the current situation surrounding COVID-19, the government announced today (Apr 1)
Colombo (News1st): The validity period of all visas issued for foreigners in Sri Lanka has been extended until May 12 owing to the current situation surrounding COVID-19, the government announced today (Apr 1).
Previously, the Department of Immigration and Emigration had extended the validity period of all visas from March 14 to April 12.
“The procedure to pay the relevant visa fee and to get the visa endorsed in the passport will be informed to you later,” the Department of Immigration and Emigration said in a statement.
Accordingly, all foreigners have been advised to refrain from visiting the Visa Division of the Department of Immigration and Emigration.
The statement added that foreigners who wish to leave the island during this period can pay the relevant visa fee at the airport, without any penalty.
Meanwhile, the validity period of the Acknowledgements issued by the Department for applications submitted to obtain visas has also been extended until May 12.
Foreigners intending to leave the country during this period, have been requested to send a request to obtain their passport, along with a scanned copy of the acknowledgment and the flight ticket should be sent to the following email addresses;
