New Delhi: India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday said that local administrations in many parts of the country are conducting door-to-door surveys as the number of COVID-19 cases have increased in the country.
Speaking at a press conference here, Joint Health Secretary Lav Agarwal told the media "A door to door survey is underway in Pune central region and kondhwa region in 35 kilometer area. The teams constituted by the administration are testing both, persons with comorbidity like hypertension and diabetes as well as people having travel and contact history and the services are provided accordingly."
Agarwal also added "Similarly in Pathanamthitta district in Kerala, the administration is making intense efforts for contact tracing and surveillance." The Joint Health Secretary told media that the government has accelerated its efforts of contact tracing.
"Both central government and state governments are taking a series of measures in order to break the chain of transmission. Our response and preparations are increasing in commensurate way with the rise in the number of cases He said that nationwide programme is going on in every district in all states. "We are taking intensive actions as per the action plan carved by the experts in order to manage the situation of COVID-19. Technology has been used in creating war rooms and monitoring clusters and households under quarantine," Agarwal said.
Agarwal urged people to follow the lockdown and social distancing measures strictly. "We are dealing with an infectious disease. Even one failure will harm our overall efforts," he said. India recorded 773 coronavirus positive cases and 32 deaths in the past 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday. India's total count of corona positive cases stands at 5,194 with total deaths at 149.
