South Asia Monitor (SAM) is a unique policy discourse platform that brings together informed perspectives from some of the region's most astute thinkers and practitioners drawn from government, diplomacy, armed forces, academia, media, industry, and the strategic community.

At a time when conventional media is increasingly coloured by ideology and social media is often shrill, polarised and toxic, SAM offers balanced, independent and rigorously reasoned analysis of contemporary developments and public policies shaping India, South Asia and the wider Indo-Pacific region.

SAM is an initiative of the Society for Policy Studies (SPS), a not-for-profit organisation independent of corporate, political and ideological interests. It is run by former media leaders, military veterans and area experts who share a commitment to informed policy deliberation, regional understanding and strategic analysis.

We are equally committed to nurturing young voices by providing a platform for students, researchers and emerging scholars from South Asia, the South Asian diaspora and other stakeholders in a region that is home to nearly a quarter of the world's population.
