The head of Laghman's provincial council, Atiqullah Abdulrahimzai, was injured in an explosion in eastern Laghman province on Tuesday evening.

The incident occurred in Qarghaee district when his vehicle struck a roadside mine. Four of his security guards were also wounded, according to officials.
 
However, no group, including the Taliban, has claimed responsibility. 

The blast occurred a day after the convoy of Rahmatullah Yarmal, governor of Laghman, was targeted by a blast in the center of the province.
