In a virtual meeting organised by the Tourism Recovery Task Force (TRTF), Nepal's Director-General of the Department of Tourism Rudra Singh Tamang said that the department is preparing to amend existing protocols to which the various stakeholders from the industry raised objections.

After facing backlash from industry for the recently issued protocols, the Department of Tourism announced its willingness to amend it.

Earlier the government had issued news safety protocols as it announced the decision of opening the country for tourism from 17 October. The stakeholders from the industry raised multiple objections to newly issued safety and mountaineering protocols.

Mandatory seven-day quarantine period and $5000 Covid insurance for travellers were among the key contentious issues discussed in the meeting.
