Afghanistan President cautiously reacts to US-Taliban talks

Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani has expressed conscious welcome of the US-Taliban talks, saying the latter could use thr peace process as a "Trojan horse strategy" and said they should participate in democratic elections in the country to test their popularity among the people.

Munich: Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani has expressed conscious welcome of the US-Taliban talks, saying the latter could use thr peace process as a "Trojan horse strategy" and said they should participate in democratic elections in the country to test their popularity among the people.  

He said that drugs are playing a key role in financing terrorism and that the international community must take responsibility in combating drug production in Afghanistan.

“The war in Afghanistan is not a civil war, but a multi-dimensional conflict,” he said at the Munich Security Conference. .

He said that the concern that the Taliban could be using a peace process as a “Trojan horse strategy” is there, but you can’t end this war without engaging in a process and testing them.
