Just two days after the gruesome attack on Kabul University, the Afghan government on Wednesday arrested 13 police officials of PD3 district in Kabul for negligence, Tolonews reported.
Those arrested, including the police head of PD3 district in Kabul and the security officer of the University, were transferred to court for “negligence” in ensuring security, spokesperson of Kabul police Ferdaws Faramarz was quoted Tolonews.
Kin of victims on Wednesday blamed the security agencies for security lapses that led to the unfortunate loss of 22 young lives.
The Monday attack which killed 22 people and wounded 40 was claimed by Daesh (IS), though Afghan first Vice-President Amrullah Saleh blamed the Taliban for the attack, calling the IS claim as “fake.”
Saleh pointed out the difference between the weapons showed in the photographs released by IS and what had been used by the attackers. He also said the Taliban’s flag was retrieved from the attackers.
Meanwhile, the Taliban rejected Saleh’s allegations in a statement. US peace envoy Zalmay Khalilzad asked the Afghan government and the insurgent group not to “score points” against each other on the attacks.
