Envoys of Japan, Australia, and the United States visited the Cox Bazar camps, housing nearly a million Rohingya refugees, in Bangladesh and extended their support to Bangladesh for their early, dignified, and voluntary return to Myanmar.

“This joint mission with an intention to further promote their support for the government of Bangladesh and strengthen cooperation with international organizations and NGOs,” said Ito Naoki, the Japanese ambassador to Myanmar.

The delegation also met with Bangladeshi officials and international organizations assisting the refugee communities there and extended their strong support to them.

Naoki said they strongly hope that comprehensive service delivery, including education, will restart soon as the coronavirus situation is improving

During the visit, the delegation also visited a disaster preparedness project, food programs, a learning center, a health facility, and spoke with community health volunteers about their role in the Covid-19 response in the Rohingya refugee camps and host communities, said the US Embassy in Dhaka on Saturday.

The US ambassador assured that the world hasn’t forgotten the refugees and their host during the Covid-19. The pandemic, however, adversely affected services to these communities.
