Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang had a telephonic conversation as the two countries celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations.  

During the call, the two leaders stressed the need to continue with the momentum of high-level exchanges to diversify and deepen the partnership, reported The Express Tribune. With years of collective and tireless works, the two nations have transformed their relationship into an all-weather strategic cooperative partnership. 

"The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative and has generated economic activity, employment and will further enhance bilateral and regional trade,” said the Chinese premier. 

Khan also appreciated China for supporting Pakistan during the Covid-19 pandemic. 

Earlier, Nong Rong, the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, said the two countries were tied in deep-rooted relations and these relations will further fortify with the passage of time.

Pakistan Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood said that the country’s China policy will always remain the cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy. He also thanked China for supporting the Kashmir cause and the CPEC projects.
