Saima Mohsin, a Pakistani-origin Muslim woman, is set to become the first Muslim woman in the United States to take charge of the federal attorney in Michigan’s Eastern District. 

The Biden Administration appointed her as the acting district attorney following the resignation of the incumbent attorney of the district, reported The News. She will take charge on 1 February. 

Calling the appointment “great honor”, Mohsin said, “ I am deeply committed to fulfill  our core mission to faithfully enforce the law and seek justice for all.”

“She is a career prosecutor, having served in the US Attorney’s Office since 2002, and prior to that as a Deputy New Jersey Attorney General and an Assistant District Attorney in Manhattan,” The Justice Department was quoted as saying by The News. 

Mohsin got her law degree from Rutgers University in New Jersey. The outgoing District Attorney called her one of the finest federal prosecutors he has ever known.
