State-run SriLankan Airlines had taken 40 Pakistani national back on May 04, who were stranded in Colombo the High Commission of Pakistan in Colombo said as most airlines in the sub-continent were grounded and airports closed over a Coronavirus outbreak.
SriLankan Airlines flight UL-1185 had left Colombo on May 04 at 0700.
The flight was co-ordinated by the Sri Lankan and Pakistan government and the High Commission, the statement said.
SriLankan had been operating scheduled flights to several destinations until early April but halted them saying airports are closing.
SriLankan has since been running rescue flight to a number of countries brining back SriLankan citizens and taking others out.
At the moment only Qatar Airlines flies regular flights to Colombo.
Sri Lanka allows any passenger to leave the country, but incoming passengers are co-ordinated by the foreign ministry with quarantine facilities pre-arranged by the military.
Sri Lanka has been aggressively contact tracing coroanvirus cases but the effort received a setback last week after a hundreds of sailors were infected and allowed to go back to their homes. (Colombo/May04/2020)
