India and Bangladesh on Tuesday decided to expand their economic and development partnership in the post-Covid situation as PM Sheikh Hasina met Foreign Secretary Harsh V Shringla in what was her first meeting with a visiting dignitary since the outbreak of the pandemic.
Hasina greatly appreciated PM Narendra Modi’s gesture in sending a senior official to touch base, convey a message and see how the two sides could take the relationship forward, ET has learnt.
The Indo-Bangla development partnership, enhancing connectivity, the revival of economy post Covid, cooperation on Covid assistance, including on therapeutics and vaccine, joint commemoration of Mujib Barsho were on the agenda of the meeting. Total exposure of India-backed projects in Bangladesh is close to $ 10 billion.
