The Maldives’ Health Protection Agency (HPA) has reported 26 confirmed positive cases of the COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 13,274  in the small island nation, Sun news reported.

The active cases remain 629. Most of the fresh cases, 23, alone came from the greater Male region; a single case reported from an operational resort, while the rest two reported from other regions. 

Meanwhile, 104 patients made recovery in the last 24 days. The low infection rate is helping the country to reduce its active case count.

In the last week, a total of 204 positive cases were detected; with the highest,39, reported on Sunday. Around 68 peoples are admitted to different hospitals across the country.

In September, the country recorded less than 100 cases per day and the number remained below 50 per day in November. 

Despite the decrease in infection rate, the HPA cautioned citizens to strictly follow the health guidelines. The country largely managed to contain the virus and the situation helped the Maldives in the revival of its tourism industry.
