The World Health Organization (WHO) has donated 5000 more test kits for COVID-19 to the Maldives.

In a press conference tonight, National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez announced that the test kits have now been handed over to IGMH.

WHO had donated 5000 test kits to the Maldives two weeks ago. The organization had then stated that the frequency of such supplies to the country would be increased.

This is the fourth time that the organization has supplied test kits to the Maldives. Other countries as well as organizations and private donors have donated test kits and medical equipment to the Maldives.

Thailand today donated ten mini ventilators to the Maldives.

The Maldives has so far collected 20,551 samples. They include repeat samples as well. The number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives currently stands at 1438.
