After noticing the laxity by airline companies in following COVID guidelines, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) warned them of suspension of their operations, as per a report by The Himalayan Times.

In a stern warning issued on Monday, the CAAN asked them to follow safety measures seriously or face flight suspensions. Some of the airlines’ companies were also given notices for violating the safety norms.

In Nepal, it is mandatory to fill a travel form before boarding a flight, “However, some airline companies are not following the rules properly, which prompted us to issue the notice,” Gyanendra Bhule, an officer at CAAN, was quoted as saying by The Himalayan Times.

Nepal had permitted flight operations in September last year after a gap of almost five months.

The Notice was issued to all 31 airlines that operate to, and from, Nepal. The notice also reminded the airlines’ companies not to ferry any passengers from the United Kingdom. The decision was taken after the UK reported a new mutated variant of the Coronavirus which is 70 percent contagious to its original version.

“Airline companies have already been directed not to ferry any passenger from the UK as a new variant of the virus is spreading there. Any airline ignoring this direction will also face flight suspension,” reads the statement issued by the CAAN.
