In goodwill gestures, the border protection forces of India and Bangladesh exchanged sweets and greetings on Wednesday at various international check posts between the two countries on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest festival of Muslims.

At the Hili check post in the Indian state of West Bengal’s South Dinajpur district, Border Guard Bangladesh personnel gifted sweets to India’s Border Security Force commanders.  BGB  camp commander Subedar Showkat Ali Molla said the sweets were sent to the Indian side from the Joypurhat-10 BGB battalion.

BSF Hili camp commander Ramakant Singh reciprocated by sending sweets as gifts.

The BSF battalion exchanged sweets with BGB members at the Bangladesh-India border in Fulbari of Panchagarh too.

BSF South Bengal Frontier greeted the BGB extending India’s goodwill gesture to Bangladesh.

The BGB and BSF exchanged sweets and greetings at Pertrapole Integrated Check Post (ICP) and other Border Outposts (BoPs).

Both the BSF and the BGB guard the 4,096-kilometre India-Bangladesh border.

The exchange of sweets between these two forces is a regular feature during religious and national celebrations, reflecting true comradeship and helps in strengthening cordial relations, Showkat Ali Molla said, UNB reported.

The BSF camp commander said that “this kind of exchange of sweets and greetings motivates the border guards of both the countries”.
