Traffic expert Vidyadhar Date speaks with Mayank Chhaya on India's spiralling road deaths | SAM Conversation

With barely 1% of the world's vehicles, India accounts for a staggering 11% of the global deaths caused by road accidents. The number of deaths in 2021 was in excess of a shocking 170,000 people. That makes it 465 deaths a day or about 20 every hour.
To get a perspective on this largely ignored daily crisis, Mayank Chhaya Reports spoke to the well-known Mumbai-based journalist Vidyadhar Date, author of ‘Traffic in the Era of Climate Change’, who has written extensively about the subject.
