A Bangladeshi student, studying in Istanbul under a Turkey government scholarship, has turned into an entrepreneur on by opening a restaurant.
Turkey despite hosting thousands of people from the sub-continent was missing a place that can cater to the taste of Bangladeshi people. He noticed the gap and decided to fill it.
Omar Farul Hilali, 30, opened an upscale restaurant, named Asia Longue, in the heart of the capital city of Istanbul. The place is near to the city’s historic Fatih Mosque.
“This [restaurant] is a long-cherished dream to demonstrate the generosity and hospitality of our sub-continent in the incredible country of Turkey," Hilali was quoted as saying by the Daily star during the opening ceremony of the eatery.
He hoped that it would grow into a melting pot of cultures along with the Bangladeshi community.
The interior of the restaurant’s walls reflects the art and tradition of Bangladesh.
Several members of the community, students, local business owners, and tourists witnessed the opening ceremony. “This restaurant is more than just a profit-generating business unlike many hip cafes and expensive restaurants here,” Hilali said.
