Drop in EU-India trade due to pandemic

The European Union's exports of goods to India were worth 31 billion euro in January to October 2019. They fell to 25.4 billion euro in January-October 2020, a drop of 18.1%.
EU imports of goods from India were valued at 33.9 billion euro in January to October 2019. They fell to 27.7 billion euro from January-October 2020, a drop of 18.3 %.
These figures were released by the EU’s statistical agency, Eurostat today. It did not give any reason for the steep drop but observers in Brussels blame the coronavirus pandemic for the instability in EU’s foreign trade.
In the first ten months of 2020, China was the main partner for the EU. This result was due to an increase of imports (+3.4%) while exports remained almost unchanged, Eurostat noted .
At the same time EU trade with the United States recorded a significant drop in both imports (-13.0%) and exports (-10.2%).
