Former India's National Security Guard (NSG) Chief J K Dutt, who was known for his role in leading anti-terror operations during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, has died of COVID-19. He was 72.

He was admitted to a private hospital in Gurgaon.

Dutt passed away in the afternoon after a massive cardiac arrest, said reports.

He had served as the chief of the NSG - an elite counter-terrorism unit - from 2006 to 2009.

He had also served as the Joint Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
