Two climbers, a Norwegian and another Indian, were evacuated from Everest base camp in Nepal after they complained of altitude sickness. The duo later tested positive for the COVID-19, reported The Himalayan Times.

The report also said that a sherpa guide for the Norwegian also turned out COVID-19 positive. However, the support staff of the Indian climber tested negative for the virus.

Erlend Ness, the Norwegian climber, was hopeful of climbing the top peak this year. Currently, he has been admitted to a hospital and is undergoing treatment in Kathmandu. "My diagnosis is COVID-19," he was quoted as saying by AFP.

The Indian climber, a female, has already spent four days in a hospital and is currently staying in a hotel in Kathmandu valley, according to a report in The Himalayan Times.

This year, the government has issued permits to 377 people ( 40 teams). A total of 1000 people are currently staying in the base camp.
