Bangladesh moved atop the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League by winning the second game of their three-match ODI series against visiting Sri Lanka.
Hosts Bangladesh registered a 103-run victory by Duckworth/Lewis method in the rain-interrupted tie to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-game series, Dhaka Tribune reported.
Bangladesh now have 50 points from five wins in eight games.
Bangladesh had moved to No 4 in the table with a 33-run win in the series opener.
Bangladesh’s stunning victory was made possible by a stupendous all-round show as Mushfiqur Rahim led with a fantastic 125-run knock off 127 balls as the hosts scored 246 in 50 overs. Sri Lanka lost early wickets and Bangladesh bowlers fired on all cylinders to reduce the visitors to 141/9 after the islanders’ innings was reduced 40 overs following rains.
Bangladesh are now followed by England, Pakistan, Australia and New Zealand in the table rankings.
The four teams have 40 points each but the net run rate puts England in the second spot, followed by Pakistan in third.
India are at No 8 with three wins in six games and have 29 points.
Sri Lanka are at the 12th spot among 12 teams and yet to earn any point having played five games.
