Days after Afghan NSA Hamidullah Mohib suggested holding the next round of intra-Afghan dialogue in Afghanistan, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani now backed his idea at a cabinet meeting, TOLOnew reported. 

President Ghani said, “while the Taliban is claiming that they are on Afghan soil, why aren’t they holding talks on Afghan soil.” he also added his government is ready to hold talks at any place of the Taliban’s choosing. 

It is not the time for luxury hotels to be considered as pre-conditions, Afghan can negotiate under a tent too, Ghani said on Monday. 

Earlier NSA Mohib said that holding talks in Afghanistan would help build trust and would also allow to better own the negotiations. He also said negotiators will be aware of the realities of people and their demands and it will also prevent additional costs on Afghanistan. 

Interestingly, the suggestion came after the Taliban’s deputy leader Mullah Baradar’s comment at the 7th session of the Heart of Asia conference. During his speech, Mullah Baradar claimed that the group has the ability to resolve the Afghanistan dispute through negotiations. 

The Taliban’s deputy leader also added that they want an "inclusive government."
