An IED explosion that took place on Saturday morning in Kabul killed the famous former Afghan TV presenter Yama Siavash and two others who were accompanying him in the same car, reported TOLOnews.
Yama Siavash was a known figure in Afghan media circles and hosted a popular TV news show on TOLOnews that questioned popular Afghan politicians and ministers. After 2015, he joined the Central Bank.
His death sent a shock waves in the media fraternity in Afghanistan and drew condolences from all quarters. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani called the attack a “terrorist act” and directed to launch an investigation into the incident.
“I was deeply saddened to hear the death of Yama Siavash, a renowned journalist, and his friends in an explosion today in Kabul,” Afghan chief peace negotiator Abdullah Abdullah said in a tweet.
