A Bangladeshi youth was shot dead by BSF members in the border area of Bahadurpur in Benapole early today, UNB reported.

The deceased was identified as Riazul Islam Ria Morol (24), son of Abdur Jabbar of Bahadurpur area in the district. He was a suspected drug dealer.

Members of Banshkata camp of BSF gunned him down, said Subedar Sarowar Hossain of BGB.

Locals spotted Riazul's body in the morning beside the wired fence of border and informed police, the BGB official said.

The body was sent to Jashore General Hospital for autopsy.

Police also recovered five kilogrammes of hemp that was left abandoned beside the body, said Mamun Khan, officer-in-charge of Benapole Port Police Station.
