As the Afghan government failed to provide the details of COVID-19 funds, given by international donors, it had spent to fight the pandemic, a Kabul based organisation, Integrity Watch Afghanistan (IWA), accused the government of being unaccountable.

“Afghan government either provided us incomplete details or refrained completely from giving any details in some cases,” said the head of IWA, Syed Akram Afzali.

Cases of embezzlement of funds, selling of ventilators and other medical equipment were reported in some cases. The Attorney General Office said that some corruption cases against the former and current officials from the ministry of public health, and a hospital’s officials in some cases have been investigated.
